GET THAT WORD

"Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him...

Mark 6:2

ree

There are a few stories of Jesus that amazes me. The story of the man at the tombs that was demon-possessed in (Mark 5:1-20), the man with the withered hand (Mark 3:1-6) and the paralytic that was healed (Mark 2:1-12).

Did you notice how for some reason the people that opposed Jesus was not concerned that there were people that were getting help and being healed. They were fixed on the day that people were being healed. When Jesus was in his home country he was not received, people said chal isn't that Gina's daughter with their noses turned up. What good can come from that house, who she think she is, to speak to us? This stifled what Jesus could do there. There was the lady with the issue of blood, she knew she just wanted to touch the hem of His garment, the paralytic needed to just get close enough and the man with the withered hand caught Jesus' eye. Jesus had a heart of compassion and empathy for those that were sick and suffering.

The lady with the issue of blood shows us how important it is to first have faith, to hear the word and to receive the word-Jesus. In the parable of the sower it explains how many people are when it comes to the word. Some are thrown by the wayside, others fall upon stony places, some fall among thorns and some fall on good ground. There are some that will hear the word and do not understand it, then there are some that joyfully got the word but because they may not have an indepth relationship with God when trouble comes they stumble, and there are some because their concerned about things (friends, social media, cars, money etc.) they get distracted and cannot be productive for the kingdom, then there were those that fell on good soil and they produce continuously.

The people from the town where Jesus was from knew He had wisdom yet still did not receive Him but when Jesus went to Gadarenes (a 10 hour 30 min walk from Nazareth) there was a man that lived among the tombs that presented himself to Jesus. Even the demons knew that Jesus was one to be worshipped and honored. The unclean spirits referred to himself as Legion because there were many of them, this man would be tied up in chains, cutting himself and crying out but when Jesus came off of the boat he ran and submitted himself to Jesus. At that point this man was able to be delivered. Our situations may not look like that of legion but the situation can be so many, it can feel like such a load, it may be frustrating and hard to manage. Looking at this story we may look at him with pity not realizing that we may be living a life that is similarly distructive. Sleeping with person after person, there are family strongholds, rape, molestation, rebellion and stubborness these are areas where spirits can enter and like that of legion there can be many. Many strongholds, many soul-ties, many issues that keep manifesting in our lives bringing stresss, anxiety and frustration. But we need that word!

Jesus went to church, to the synagogue but He was being watched; wouldn't that be the place where healing and manifestations should take place but there were Jesus' haters ready for Him to post a picture on social media on a Sunday morning because He was 'working' on the Sabbath. There was a guy there that had a withered hand; He told him to come to Him and stretch his arm out and at that time his hand was restored. Then the plot for Jesus' downfall had another strike. Isn't that something how people that oppose you go out of their way to bring you down? It seems crazy to me that you don't like someone and go to such lengths to bring them down. But Jesus said there will be persecution.

On the other hand, there was a paralytic in Capernaum (a 9 hour walk from Nazareth) who must've had some amazing friends that were willing to go through the trouble in not just carrying him to Jesus but beacuse there were so many people they needed him to get close to Jesus so they literally took the off a roof and lowered him in front of Jesus so he could receive healing. Chal, you better get you some friends who are willing to go lengths and widths to help you when there is trouble and also know the right source to go to. Because of their faith the paralytic was forgiven and healed but there were haters there taking note of the things Jesus was doing. The word was going by the wayside, they were not there to receive the word but to plot against Jesus. All the good Jesus was doing, there were still people that were against Him. Their hearts were hardened against Him, they were religious and lived by the law. They wanted to look good not to truly submit to God's word. Today Pharisees show up in different ways and different forms coming against the people of God and the word of God directly or indirectly.

Healing came to those who's hearts were not hardened that had some level of faith and received Christ. Have you received Christ? Are you getting that word? There was a continous plot on Jesus but he did not let that distract Him.

In many families there's that aunt or uncle who maybe similar to the man that lived among the tombs or it can even hit closer to home as a sibling or parent; living wayward. There is a word, a revelation and deliverance there for them but have faith, believe that there can be a change, they can be saved. It is so amazing how resilient Jesus was, He focused on His mission even when He was tired and frustrated He would cry out to God and be refilled to continue. Even Jesus needed to a word!

Side note: something I recently learnt through Jesus' ministry, he never pressured anyone to receive the word. Ohhh I really needed that revelation because time and time again I would be trying to help someone usually a family member and in my heart I would almost want to force the word and understanding on them. I have a sibling that has some opposing views on the word of God and I am learning that it only brings more frustration when it is rejected. Look at Paul as he was sharing the word to the Jews and it made him so frustrated that it had him question the word of God in some occations. Jesus taught knowing that there would be some who will receive and others that would not. Those that wanted to hear or receive came in multitudes when they knew of Jesus' arrival. It seems like everywhere there is an evangelist, prophet or pastor sharing God's word but there are still so many people that are being distracted by the things in this world, the word has fallen on either the wayside, stony or thorns never to see any manifestation of God. I remember hearing that if you heard something that should be applied to your life and still not apply it you really did not understand it. Why are there so many people that are still not living the word? Maybe their hearts have been hardened, maybe because of oppression, possession, scales over their eyes or deaf to the word. There are many who's hearts are hardened maybe because they really do not understand who God is? Maybe there was false representation like the Pharisees.

Jesus had a very active ministry when we look at the man that was tortured at the tombs he knew he needed deliverance and he knew who could help and submitted himself to Jesus. The man with the withered hand also submitted when he was called to come closer and obeyed by stretching his arm out. The paralytic must've been tired of being in that state. It had not been said how long he was a parlytic but Jesus' response to him showed that sin was the cause of him infimity. "Son your sins are forgiven." There was a way that he was living, something he had done that contradicted the word of God and brought on sickness. There are some principles that have a cause and effect, if we do things that go against them the effect can be traumatic. Today I would like to remind you to 'Get That Word'.

Get that word; hear it, receive it and apply it to your life!
