HOW TO USE WISDOM

Updated: May 9, 2021

Wisdom is worth much more than gold. Understanding is worth much more than silver.

Proverbs 16:16 ERV

Please forgive me in advance when I use the word stupid and foolish. It is not an insult to you or myself but an awareness of the devices the enemy uses to keep us stuck in a way we think and act. Once upon a time I remember when I did not want anything to do with God because I was offended by Him.

Yes, I was...but that is a story for another day.

Today I want to enlighten you on some things I have learnt in regard to wisdom. I was once so caught up on money and being successful and looked at the body of Christ as not having money and was lacking but did not realize the foolish lies the enemy fed me. Picture this having so much money but no wisdom on what to do with it and it is squandered on meaningless garbage (cars, homes, clothes or jewelery) things that will not matter with your relationship with God or maintaining wealth here on earth.

There are two people that I began to admire more and more every time I am asking God to help me with applying wisdom and knowledge. Those two people are Solomon and Joseph, as led by the holy Spirit these were two that I see some things that I need to study and apply over and over again then go back to the story and get a new revelation on what I may need to do.

Solomon seemed to be a man that was peaceful, selfless and obedient. Solomon was not the first son, but in 1 Kings 2:9 his father King David said to Solomon 'you are a wise man you will know what to do'. It was obvious even to others around him maybe how he spoke and carried himself that he had good judgment and probably displayed some level of knowledge. Solomon is still known today ask the wisest king who ever lived. He had leaders travel from all over the world to bask in his presence. As a leader he must've been doing something right. Being a vessel that God had put on display and had a life that was a reflection of God's word in that way. And Joseph even after being mistreated, he did not go crazy or wallow in sorrow. He did not have a pity party because things did not work out. Everywhere Joseph went he showed his leadership capabilities. He was hard-working, he created order in Pharaoh's palace and had a sound mind.

What is with it with having a sound mind or being level headed?

I noticed for myself that when my emotions shift like a pendulum I am thrown off balance. I will use anger for instance especially because I have been set free from that...Amen!

But when I would get angry I would say things that were mean, I would feel different and sometimes if I am in the right place I can see that I even look different.

So Joseph and Solomon being able to bring peace and order without swaying back and forth in emotion is so refreshing to study and learn about. As a business-owner displaying that kind of leadership skills is also very important, to retain clients, to develop good partnerships and build a dynasty that wins.

Who is ready to win? I hope you said yes..well maybe you want to know what I mean by winning, let me explain. I want to win in my relationship with God but as we are living here on earth we want to be the vessels God can decorate and put on display but we have to work on some character flaws that is how we can win. What God is doing in my life now could not be done before because my vessel was not empty nor was it available for God. Joseph sat in a pit for God knows how long before he was sold into slavery, he had been in prison but he was given hope, something to focus on. Life was not good nor was it looking promising for Joseph at that time from my persective. Then when he finally got out of the pit he was sold to Portiphar as a slave, he had seen these visions of himself being displayed as someone on top, someone winning but this was not looking like it. During this time he could've turned his heart away from God but he remained faithful. He was also diligent.

When I started working for myself I had times when I got frustrated because I felt like I was not going anywhere and if I was it was not fast enough but I kept doing what I needed to do to run the business; being diligent in the things I could find my hands to do. I rarely ever sit at home and do nothing...well there are some days when I rest but outside of rest I remain hard at work.

Solomon seemed to be a man that payed attention, he noticed there were gaps and issues that needed to be resolved. He did not think about himself to be blessed to have new cars, houses or more money but his emphasis was on the need of the people (God's people).

Both leaders had wisdom to make decisions, to rule, to love and to apply what they knew to the situation right.

There are some things that cannot be taught in tertiary school. There are so many people that went to college and still cannot apply the knowledge they bought to their personal lives. This is where having God's wisdom to apply what you know to the right situation and know how to explain things to the right people. I see know why Solomon needed the wisdom from God. today seek God's wisdom to your life to grow, walk and learn more. Proverbs said it beautifully that wisdom and knowledge is worth far more than silver and gold. Having knowledge can bring the right people to your table, to you for help. Having wisdom to help families, communities and homes grow in understanding can only be from God, especially when you have no clue otherwise.
