PRAYER POINTS GIVES YOUR PRAYER LIFE STRUCTURE AND DIRECTION
Prayer points changed the way I prayed. I am no longer frustrated during prayer having to think of what to say; but by using a scripture as the foundation of the prayer I go into prayer knowing I will get results.
so my word goes out of my mouth; it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:11
God does not make promises that He will not keep. He stands to His word.
Whatever it is you are presenting to God find a scripture that clarifies that point. It has been so easy to find scriptures because google allows you to search and in the Bible apps there is also a search, you don't necessarily have to know scriptures verbatim. As a babe in Christ my suggestion would be to start with 3 points and no more than 3 scriptures. This will keep the focus to a minimum and you won't feel so overwhelmed, or 3 points 1 scripture. Does this still feel like too much? Let's look at an example of a prayer point.
Father, Thank you for hearing me when I call upon you.
For this prayer point the scripture I would use is Jeremiah 29:12
Then you will call upon Me and I will listen to you.
Prayer and devotion time consists of praying, worshipping and reading the word. You can find a scripture and study it, get a clear understanding of what the scripture is saying by reading the verses before and after, then speaking it aloud and saying the scripture based on your desire. The word and it's promises are there for us to part-take, if you eliminate the scripture we are making requests without solid truth/backing. Let's look at the scripture again and use a few points from that scripture.
Father, thank you for being attentive to me.
Father, thank you for tuning in to my needs
Father, thank you for being thoughtful to me, or thinking of me
You can spend some time just thanking God in different ways based on that verse and because you've studied it and gained more understanding you have more you can say. Then move on to the next point-scripture repeating the same thing for each prayer point.
Prayer does not have to me daunting or exhausive. Make your prayers precise.
