STUDYING THE BOOK OF JAMES

CHAPTER 2

In chapter one James starts to touch on some topics that he expands on throughout the letter to the Messanic church. He really is not short on words and his tone is a reflection of Proverbs as well as Jesus with metaphors. He very much challenges our beliefs, the way we think and have as normal by asking rhetorical questions throughout this entire chapter.

James starts chapter two teaching of favoritism and gives an example of how we may show favoritism. The example is a reflection of our hearts and the way we see ourselves and others. He reminds us of how we are sometimes expoloited by the very people we show favor to and how God uses and chooses the poor and that we should love others as we do ourselves. If you stumble on parts of the law you have broken the law. He talks about being merciful, faith, deeds and the righteous.
