THE BIG EVENT

Parable of the 10 Virgins

Matthew 25:1-13

The story of the 10 virgins is a great example of how many of us may not be ready! We do not prepare when we have the time and miss opportunies because we have to play catch up. We cry out to God desiring things but when He provided answers we were unavailable, busy and not in the right position. I can testify to missing out on blessings, making mistakes and trying to play catch up because something enticed me into a different direction. Oooh, for many years I submitted my mind and body as a sacrifice to God but one mistake took me off track. This can sometimes be like using GPS you have a destination but for some reason you turned off before your actual turn and it has to reload, refresh and recoordinate. During this time is known as a time of restoration; God by His infinte mercy has to realign His will and plan for our lives. This can be very frustrating but the quicker we repent the sooner we can get back on track.

I spent most of my adult life going in the wrong direction and never checking GPS aka The Holy Spirit for coordinates. I was always waiting for 'The Big Event' some party, get-together or girls trip and put my relationship with God on the back burner until a few years ago when everything changed. But before making that decision I thought a few times of how I would miss out on all the fun, the parties and the BIG EVENTS. Even after giving my life to Christ I said to myself that He wouldn't mind if I go to one party, one event but the BIGGEST EVENT has been a on-going prepartion. The story of the 10 virgins is metaphor of 5 virgins that were prepared with extra oil and 5 wasn't and when the 5 that was not prepared went to get more oil the bridegroom came and they were turned away after returning. Could you imagine hearing the word over and over again and saying to yourself that I have more time, one more event, one more party , I can't help having sex but God comes; would that even be worth it?

Additionally, I always thought 'Christians' were boring...really I did! That was one of those things that kept me from being interested in giving my life to God. Nor did I really understand what that meant but from my view nothing looked very joyous or prosperous but after an encounter with God the scales were removed from my eyes. It so funny how the enemy let's you see everything that's so negative to keep us from understanding what is necessary for our lives but God redeems and restores by sending people to help us our destiny helpers. I told you my testimony already about how I was done with life and wanted to die; God sent one of His sons to call me to get those evil thoughts out of my mind, to pull me out of depression and sadness. This is the BIG EVENT, preparing for God's return. It does not have to be daunting, I realized that I could have fun as a Christian sometimes we have to plan it ourselves or people can plan it for us. Let's make our daily journey THE BIG EVENT, it can be epic!

God loves to show up and show His great works in the most spectacular way...THE BIG EVENT
