THEN HE ASKED THEM, "BUT WHO DO YOU SAY I AM?"
MATTHEW 16:15 NLT
God revealed himself to people like Abram and Moses. He has given us more than enough evidence to prove to us that He is faithful and loving. But who is He to you? How has He shown up for you?
Jesus asked His disciples who am I to you, we have been together all this time, people have their opinion about me but what is your opinion He asked.
Days when I was depressed, when I was making horrible mistakes, when I was at the point of giving up He has proven Himself to me; when I thought no one loved me and quite frankly didn't understand life, love and my future He came to me like He did with Saul. The scales were removed from my eyes, literally light was able to filter into my life. Each and every one of us has an opportunity to share with others our journey and to help them grow, these are what we call testimonies to help boost our faith. It is so amazing to look at scriptures and see where these biblical characters were able to see and touch Christ, but they were still human and made mistakes. God removed the setbacks that we would have with humans and gave us a way to Him, He looks beyond what others would normally-He look at-our hearts, He forgives us when people would not. Talk about having a loving Father. The great thing about this relationship is He has made provision for us already but it is up to us to receieve it!
Who has He been to you? Moses got instructions from God having to go to Pharaoh. Pharaoh was in that time an earthly god for those in that province; he had a palace, slaves, staff, guards and soldiers; that must've been so intimidating. Nonetheless, God sent Moses to tell Pharaoh to let His people go, this is not a God who is willing to back down because some earthly man made us intimidated. Moses asked how would they believe me, Who will I say sent me "I am who I am, Yahweh." Many times when God tries to reveal Himself to us we do not give Him the time, we may not understand or we can be distracted by life's circumstances and things that are happening around us. When He is there like He was in the burning busch; Moses could've gotten distracted but he saw the burning busch and paid attention, then God spoke. God reveals Himself in the craziest ways. Could you imagine seeing a burning busch but it was not on fire, I might have ran or started rebuking what I thought was Satan. When God was able to get his attention He spoke, He revealed and gave instructions.
On the contrary let's talk about Abram's story. God seemed to have spoken to Abram pretty early in his faith journey, telling Abram to leave his family. He obeyed but took along with him Lot but after some time God revealed Himself to Abram in different ways but in chapter 17 of Genesis God appeared to Abram saying, "I am Almighty God El-Shaddai."
God revealed Himself to imperfect people like you and I that lived regular lives but were chosen. Moses was intimidated aka scared but willing and unncertain. Abram made mistakes, he got frustrated during the time he was waiting for God and slept with his wife's maid-servant and he lied about Sarai being his sister. Imperfect but faithful, loyal and honorable because they had an encounter with God that built a relationship that they knew was far more important than anything else. Even after Abram recieved his blessing in the form of a son God tested him asking him to make his son a sacrifice. God was more to him than a child, God was more to him than the years of waiting. Have you had an encounter with God that has shaken your life and you would not give Him up for nothing in this world? Look, to have that kind of an encounter or experience that will cause you to never look back.
God wants to know who is He to you? Is your marriage, children, home, job or finances more important to you than God is? If you are wondering, this is how you can identify what matters more by asking: What is first in your life? Your daily habits or routin can also help you identify. If God has the least of your time or most of your time? Does He come first? If God has the least of your time or interest then it's easy to make the necessary changes. A relationship is built on communication, trust, honesty and sincerity. Communicate with God all your desires, needs, wants then trust that He has heard your request (remember that everything we want does not come in the time we want because we may not be able to handle it), be honest with God and yourself about even the most difficult situations, in addition to being your true self with God (God does not need a fake you or some made up prayer). Moses and Abram were vulnerable with God, they spoke their truth. Moses knew he had a speaking impediment and told God hence Aaron having to speak on his behalf. Moses felt like there were hinderances keeping him from obeying God and God gave a solution. There is definitely a solution to your problem whatever that may be, seek God's kingdom-spend time with God (the word, mediate on a scripture, sing worship music or pray in the heavenly language). This is how you will connect and your answer will be revealed to you. As you continue to be faithful to Him and His word believing that what you have prayed for in accordance to His word will not come back void. Sometimes, it may feel as if it will never come to pass but wait on it because it will come.
If Elizabeth had not waited and believed she wouldn't have had John the Baptist, or Abram would not have had Isaac. It takes faith to believe something that seems so unbelievable like a virgin birthing the Son of Man. The timing mattered, the sequence mattered and even the lineage mattered. Obedience matters!
In the book of John Jesus said to His disciples, followers and haters, there is a way to get to the Father.

It is through revelation and understanding of who God is. He is not one thing but many things...He said "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty." -John 6:35 NLT
Jesus said, I am the light of the world. If you folllow me, you won't have to walk in darkness"
-John 8:12 NLT
"I am the gate. Those who come through me will be saved." -John 10:9 NLT
"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices His life for the sheep."
-John 10:11 NLT
"I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying." -John 11:25 NLT
"I am the way, the truth, and life. No one can come to the Father except through me."
-John14:6 NLT
"I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit." -John 15:5 NLT
He is every and anything you can imagine to get you through, He is LIFE. When we try to do it without Him we fail because He is Life (He gives us what we need to live), He is light (He gives us understanding), He is the vine (like the blood running through our veins for us to function), He is the shepherd (loving, paternal) and He is the bread of life (means to survive). Now I ask who is He to you? He can be so much more to you if you allow Him, focus on the solution not the problem-He is the way, the truth or the solution. He has revealed Himself to some amazing biblical characters how about you let Him reveal Himself to you. I would love to hear about your encounter and your amazing journey connect with me on YouTube, FaceBook or IG so I can hear about it!
Until next time...
